Kim Kardashian may have broken the internet with her butt on the cover of Paper Magazine in 2014 and her contour sticks in 2017, but Rihanna SHATTERED IT it with her beauty line that released on September 8.
Fenty Beauty is Rihanna's brand-spanking new beauty line (with Fenty being her last name), consisting of 40 different foundation shades, various highlighters/contour sticks (in powder AND cream form), blotting papers, primers, brushes, and a lip gloss.
Unlike Kim and Kylie's beauty brands (which were instantly created as soon as the thought of opening up a beauty line popped in their heads), Fenty Beauty was in the making for 3 years. Rihanna and Co. worked as hard as possible to make this line come true. When it finally released, I was shocked to see that it did not sell out yet! Kim and Kylie's products were sold out immediately because they didn't make enough in stock at first. I was talking to Cecilio about this. We both agreed that it made sense for Rihanna to produce as much products as possible because she already wanted her line to be inclusive for women of all skin tones, therefore she wanted her products to be immediately accessible for customers without a hassle (whereas Kim and Kylie probably didn't create enough products on purpose to make it look like their products were exclusive and insanely high in demand). Don't get me wrong, I love Kylie's lip kits and they are one of my favorite liquid lipsticks in the beauty market. I just appreciate how much thought and creativity Rihanna put into Fenty Beauty.
Yes, Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Foundation consists of 40 shades. This is the answer to WoCs' prayers. Many beauty brands refuse to make darker shades, arguing that it's inconvenient or won't sell. But the dark shades of this foundation have been flying off the shelves. Not only are they different shades, but also different undertones: very warm, peach, neutral, red, cool, olive, pink etc. Rihanna acknowledged that peoples' skin tones aren't just limited to warm, neutral, and cool. It is only $34 too, which is affordable for a fairly high-end brand. I did not get the foundation since it was a matte formula and I have dry skin. My cousin, who has super oily skin, bought it and loves it so much.
The packaging is simple, with everything being hexagonal-shaped. It's clean and feminine. The boxes, however, have the black edgy motif and grungy typefaces, which is reflective of Rihanna's "bad girl" style.
I had to stop myself from going crazy, so I limited myself to purchasing 2 items.
Even though it's a highlighter, it's more of a blush on my skin tone so I use it as that. This is like a better version of NARS orgasm. Ginger Binge (left) is a coppery pink sheen, and Moscow Mule (right) is copper with shimmer. I love swirling both on the apples of my cheeks, and it's more sheer than appears on the pan. So don't be intimidated by it. They're both stunning for everyday (especially if you just use Ginger Binge) or a night out (if you layer it with Moscow Mule).
Unlike the 40 shades of foundation, Rihanna set out to only make 1 lip gloss that would flatter EVERY woman. She and the product developers took time to find that perfect universal shade. It was worth the hard work though. This peachy pink lip gloss is shiny but not sticky, has fine specks of shimmer, and smells like peach candy.

Overall, I really love both of these products and they are going to be a staple in my beauty bag. I especially love the Killawatt highlighter duo. Now I am tempted to get the brushes and the highlighter sticks. Rumor has it that she is coming out with lipsticks too. Just shut up and take my money!
